An investigation into a robbery led to the arrest of a suspect involved in a summer shooting incident.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit were involved in a separate investigation on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 22, when an individual who had been identified as a suspect in a shooting incident that occurred on the morning of July 28 in the 400 block of Wiley Street was observed.
With the assistance of members of the Emergency Task Unit, the suspect was arrested in the area of Academy Drive after a brief foot pursuit. The suspect was found in possession of a loaded firearm, a quantity of suspected cocaine, and currency.
Kyle RAMLAKHAN, 21, had been wanted on the following charges following the Wiley Street shooting incident:
• Attempted Murder using Restricted or Prohibited Firearm x7
• Discharge a Firearm with Intent
• Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition for a Dangerous Purpose
• Failure to Comply with a Release Order
Additionally, he is also charged with the following:
• Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
• Failure to Comply with a Release Order
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
