The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating an apparent spike in thefts targeting Canada Post community mailboxes and private boxes.
At least eight incidents have been reported in which mail boxes were broken into and mail was stolen. These incidents have taken place within the last 24 hours.
Most of these incidents have occurred in rural areas during daytime hours after deliveries are made. Some incidents may have taken place overnight.
Police are requesting public assistance as the investigations into these incidents continue and request people report any suspicious activity they notice around community mail boxes.
