The Thunder Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a teen girl with First-Degree Murder in connection with the homicide death of 14-year-old Kayliegh IVALL.
An investigation of a sudden death began in the afternoon hours of Monday, April 27 after police were notified of the possible discovery of a body by a passerby in the area of Arundel Street near Lyon Boulevard.
Kayliegh was later identified as the victim.
Members of the service’s Criminal Investigation Branch, including investigators from the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units, have been investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.
Police later confirmed they were treating the death investigation as a homicide. On April 30 a post-mortem was completed in Toronto.
As a result of their ongoing investigative efforts, members of the Major Case Unit identified a 14-year-old Thunder Bay female as a suspect.
The accused was arrested and formally charged in the afternoon hours of Monday, May 4.
The accused appeared in bail court on Tuesday, May 5 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Thursday, May 7.
The identity of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The investigation remains ongoing.
