Police have arrested a second accused, a 16-year-old youth from the Toronto area, in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation of Paul VIVIER.
Officers were originally dispatched to the Midtown Inn at 61 Cumberland Street North around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 following reports of a disturbance and a seriously injured male.
When police arrived they located a 29-year-old male victim. Paramedics with the Superior North EMS transported him to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he was pronounced deceased.
The victim was later identified as Paul Winnifred VIVIER, 29, of Victoria, BC.
As a result of their ongoing investigation members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged Denis Terry Bernard, 36, of Thunder Bay, on Sunday, May 31. He appeared in bail court on Monday, June 1 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Tuesday June 9.
Further investigation identified a second suspect.
On Wednesday, June 3 police arrested a 16-year-old male from Toronto and charged him with Second-Degree Murder, Failure to Comply with a Judicial Release, and Failure to Comply with a Sentence.
The youth is expected to appear in bail court today.
The investigation continues.
