UPDATE: Sudden death now a homicide investigation, victim identified

The Thunder Bay Police Service is treating a weekend sudden death investigation as a homicide, and has identified the male victim.

Police were originally dispatched to an area in the 400 block of Main Street just after 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30 after a passerby called 911 about a possible body in the area.

When police arrived they located the body of a deceased male, who has since been identified as Christopher David MEESEETAWAGESIC, 31, of Thunder Bay. Next of kin has been notified.

Members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding MEESEETAWAGESIC’s death.

A post mortem examination is being scheduled to take place in Toronto later this week.

Police are holding a scene around the 400 block of Main Street and request the public continue avoiding this area if possible.
