UPDATE: Drugs and cash seized, Toronto man arrested

Thunder Bay Police officers, with assistance from the OPP, NAPS and APS, executed a search warrant at a Finlayson Street home on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.

As a result of that search a quantity of drugs and cash was seized. Police can now confirm the value of cash seized totaled $70,020 CAD.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the 200 block of Finlayson Street just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.

Responding officers were allowed into the residence to check on the welfare of people inside. As a result a male at the residence was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking. Officers found the male was in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and a quantity of money.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s drug unit, with assistance from the OPP, NAPS and APS, later executed a search warrant at the home. As a result of that search officers located about $70,000 in Canadian currency.

Police also seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine believed to have an estimated street value of about $53,000, and a quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of about $26,000.

Police continue to investigate the suspect’s possible affiliation with Toronto-area gangs.

Michael PRAHAY, 28, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

He appeared in court Wednesday and was remanded into custody with a future court date.
