Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit have laid additional drug trafficking-related charges against three people arrested amid an ongoing Attempted Murder investigation.

Members of the TBPS Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Task Unit and Intelligence Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 700-block of Catherine Street in the afternoon hours of Monday May 11.

Three suspects were arrested and charged in connection with the ongoing Attempted Murder investigation; meanwhile members of the Intelligence Unit continued an investigation into ongoing drug trafficking concerns.

As a result of the Intelligence Unit investigation, a quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and cash was located and seized.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized totals more than $30,000 CAD.

A loaded firearm was also located and seized.

Jacob Daniel WATTIE, 24, of Thunder Bay is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

Molly O’BRIEN, 29, of Peterborough is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

Natalie Marie SALATINO, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

All three accused appeared in bail court on Tuesday, May 12, and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.

UPDATE: Police arrest three more amid Attempted Murder investigation

Thunder Bay Police Service officers have arrested and charged a second suspect with Attempted Murder, and two other accused persons with firearm-related offences, as the investigation into a seriously injured male continues.

The initial investigation began on Sunday, May 3, when officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where a man had crashed a vehicle into a barricade on the hospital’s property.

The male was seriously injured, and the investigation determined the injuries had been sustained prior to his arrival at the hospital. Further investigation by members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit revealed the male’s injuries were a result of firearm.

On Monday, May 4, a 32-year-old Thunder Bay man identified as a suspect was located and arrested. The accused and victim were known to one another and police believe the incident was targeted.

Terry Allen PELTO, 32, of Thunder Bay, was charged with Attempt Murder, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Firearm/ Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3.

He appeared in bail court Tuesday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

As a result of their ongoing investigation, police identified three individuals connected to the Attempted Murder incident. In the afternoon hours of Monday, May 11 the three accused were located and arrested.
