The female accused of robbing a convenience store in July with a suspected firearm has been arrested, and the replica handgun believed to have been used in the incident has been seized.
Police were originally dispatched to the Circle K convenience store at 640 Waterloo Street at 10:57 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21 following reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred.
When police arrived the accused had already fled the scene.
Police learned the accused entered the store with a firearm in a disposal plastic bag. The accused approached the counter, produced a firearm, pointed it toward the clerk and made demands for money.
As part of their ongoing investigation, members of the TBPS Break and Enter And Robbery (BEAR) Unit made two appeals to the public for information. In both of those public appeals video footage showing the accused were distributed.
As a result of their ongoing investigation, police were able to identify and locate the female suspect. She was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Casie Ann Eugina MATHEWSON, 24, of Thunder Bay is charged with Robbery Using a Firearm, Disguise with Intent, and Pointing a Firearm.
She appeared in bail court on Thursday, Aug. 6 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The investigation remains ongoing.
