An intoxicated man assaulted a police officer and damaged a cruiser after he was offered a safe ride home Thursday evening.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to reports of a disturbance at a residential address in the 500 block of Lanark Crescent just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 30.
When police arrived they learned an intoxicated individual had assaulted another person. The parties were known to each other and the homeowner wanted police to remove the intoxicated individual from the residence.
Police located the accused and offered him with transportation to his own home. The intoxicated individual refused and became combative with officers.
During his arrest the accused bit an officer.
Police managed to complete the arrest, but the accused continued to be combative and caused damaged to the police cruiser just prior to being transported to the Thunder Bay Police Service headquarters.
A 20-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and Assaulting a Peace Officer.
He appeared in bail court Friday, May 1 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
