A drug trafficking investigation has led to the arrests of two men from southern Ontario and the seizure of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit began investigating after receiving information about suspected drug trafficking activity in the city.
The investigation led to the identification of a suspect. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 14, the suspect was located in the area of Simpson Street and Rowand Street. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was arrested without incident.
About an hour later, another suspect was located and arrested after a traffic stop.
Officers executed a search warrant at an address on Hartland Street and seized quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is about $215,000.
Jamel ROSE, 23, of Ajax, Ont.; and Logan FINDLAY, 25, of Ajax, Ont., are each charged with the following:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
In addition, ROSE is also charged with Resisting Arrest and Breach of Probation.
ROSE and FINDLAY appeared in court on Wednesday, May 15 and have been remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
