Two Toronto teens have been arrested in Thunder Bay and face charges relating to the trafficking of fentanyl and cocaine.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 100 block of Cumberland Street South just before 6 a.m. on Sunday, April 16 following reports of two males being in possession of illegal handguns.

When police arrived, their initial investigation led them to identify two suspects.

Officers also learned the suspects were engaged in ongoing drug trafficking activity. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit became involved in the ongoing investigation. Just before 4 p.m. on Sunday, a search warrant was executed at the Cumberland Street home.

Police seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The investigation remains ongoing.

A 16-year-old male from Toronto is charged with:

• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Failure to Comply with Undertaking

A 17-year-old male from Toronto is charged with:

• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Neither accused can be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Both are expected to appear in bail court in Thunder Bay on Monday, April 17.
