A new survey about the Thunder Bay Police Service is now live. Like previous surveys, this one focuses on elements of trust as well as how TBPS is performing. Trust especially is important, because people need to feel safe interacting with police, whether it’s to report a crime or to provide information as a witness.

The new survey gives community members opportunity to:

· Share their views on policing priorities;
· Identify reasons they may have for not reporting crimes;
· Provide insights on what would make them more willing to contact police;
· Rate the delivery of TBPS services.

Previous survey results provided insights and inspired initiatives to address responses and areas for improvement. This version will help to inform operations as well as Strategic Planning.

The survey is delivered by ZenCity and targets response rates based on our community’s census data. Anyone who chances upon an online ad from ZenCity inviting them to complete the survey is urged to participate. Your voice matters.

“We do this as part of our commitment to provide the communities we serve with the highest level of safety and service,” said TBPS Chief Darcy Fleury. “Input is instrumental in truly understanding the needs and concerns of our residents to make the best decisions for our future.”

Anyone can complete the survey at https://surveys.zencity.io/thunder-bay-ps/CtAdnO/en?s=sd. The survey will be open for approximately eight weeks.

This initiative emphasizes the importance of listening to and valuing the voices of residents, ensuring their priorities are addressed effectively. Police rely on the community, just as the community relies on police.
