Police arrested three people, including two southern Ontario residents, following the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine from a Simpson Street home Wednesday.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from members of the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 100 block of Simpson Street at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking at that address.
The investigation was assisted by members of the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau.
When police entered the home they located three suspects, who were all taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
A quantity of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, cash believed to exceed $5,000 CAD, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking were located and seized.
The estimated street value of drugs seized is believed to exceed $23,000 CAD.
Eric Richard MASON, 23, of Hamilton, Ont., is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Ackiem Allan PLUMMER, 32, of Niagara Falls, Ont., is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Edward Charles RAMSBOTTOM, 55, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
All three appeared in bail court on Thursday, Feb. 23 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
