The Thunder Bay Police Service has become aware of multiple complaints involving possible threats targeting people connected to recent demonstrations on the city’s southside.

These complaints are under investigation.

The Thunder Bay Police Service respects people’s right to demonstrate and protest peacefully. When behaviour becomes criminal, police will investigate. When appropriate, charges will be laid.

During active demonstrations, police will work to ensure all people in our community are safe from threats, assaults, intimidation, and the inciting of hate or violence.

Police presence at demonstrations is to ensure the public is safe to exercise their rights without harassment and discrimination.

We also would like to encourage anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a crime to come forward and make a formal police report so it can be thoroughly investigated.
