This week, beginning on April 12, is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW).
A more simple way to put it is #ThankADispatcher week!
When you dial 911 the person on the other line is the first responder before the first responders arrive. It takes a very special kind of person to be able to handle the situations they deal with on a daily basis.
The above video was originally created to introduce dispatchers to prospective dispatchers. We’re reposting it today to re-introduce you to some of Thunder Bay’s dispatchers as they explain, unscripted and in their words, what it means and what it takes to be a dispatcher.
The Thunder Bay Police Service would like to thank all of our telecommunicators for doing the work that they do every day to ensure the safety and security of this community.
