Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a business in the 900-block of Memorial Avenue just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 following reports of a suspected fraud in progress.
When officers arrived they learned a male suspect had made purchases with a stolen credit card earlier that day. The suspect was at the business when police arrived to pick up the merchandise purchased with the stolen credit card.
The accused had also provided staff at the business with a driver’s license featuring a suspected false identity.
The suspect was arrested at the scene without further incident.
As a result of their ongoing investigation, police were able to positively identify the accused.
Ali JAMA, 27, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Fraud Under $5,000 and Use Forged Document x 2.
He appeared in bail court Thursday, May 28 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
