The Thunder Bay Police Service has identified and charged a suspect in connection with a pair of break and enter investigations.

Thunder Bay Police issued a call for public assistance last week in identifying a suspect connected to two break and enter investigations.

The first incident occurred on Tuesday, April 21. Officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a reported break in at 601 Victoria Avenue East just before 5 a.m. on that date.

Officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were again dispatched to The Bargain Shop at 601 Victoria Avenue East for reports of a possible break and enter just before 1 a.m. on Friday, April 24.

In both cases an unidentified male entered The Bargain Shop via forced entry, stole store merchandise and fled on foot.

An investigation by members of the service’s Break and Enter And Robbery (BEAR) Unit determined the suspect was the same person in both incidents. Images of the suspect were later shared with the public in hopes of positively identifying the accused.

As a result of continued investigative efforts, members of the BEAR Unit were able to identify the accused and lay charges against him.

Jonah Kenny THOMAS, 25, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Break and Enter x 2
• Breach of Probation x 9
• Fail to Comply With a Judicial Release x 3
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He remains in custody with a future appearance date.
