The Thunder Bay Police Service is advising the public of telephone scams that are targeting local residents.

Police are aware that people have received requests to make donations to a teddy bear campaign in support of the Thunder Bay Police Association.

In addition, police are aware of similar recent phone calls where donations have been requested for fire prevention.

These are scam calls. Anyone receiving these kinds of calls should disregard them and not respond. Do not provide any form of payment.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Economic Crime Unit is urging family members and friends to speak to those who may be vulnerable to being targeted by this type of scam.
