Despite another stretch of hot and dry summer weather, the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Traffic Unit would like to remind drivers to cool it on the speeding.
Summertime often provides motorists with near ideal road conditions, however, the posted maximum speed limits still apply. These weather conditions also lead to an increase in bicycle and pedestrian traffic, so motorists are urged to drive with extreme care and caution for their safety and the safety of others.
To help keep our roadways safe for everyone, the TBPS will continue to enforce these traffic laws. This includes laying charges relating to stunt driving.
One such motorist, a 22-year-old Thunder Bay woman, received a stunt driving charges just before 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16.
She was observed by a Traffic Unit officer travelling in a white sedan heading eastbound on Dawson Road, approaching Hilldale Avenue, at a speed of 94 km/h. The posted maximum speed limit was 50 km/h.
The driver now faces a seven-day licence suspension and has a court appearance in September. The vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.
