The Thunder Bay Police Service would like to remind the public its online crime reporting tool is not to be used in emergency situations.
The TBPS has been receiving increased reports through its online reporting tool regarding incidents that should have been emergency calls made to 911. In some cases, witnesses to crimes in progress have made online reports hours or even days after the incident.
If you witness a crime in progress, please call 911.
The online citizen police reports system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the police report for free. But before using this service you should be able to answer yes to all of the following questions:
• This is not an emergency?
• This incident occurred within the Thunder Bay Police Service’s limits?
• There are no known suspects?
• This did not occur on a provincial highway?
If you answered yes to all of the above questions, you are ready to file your report online. Please make sure to turn off your pop-up blocking software before filing the report. https://www.thunderbaypolice.ca/key-services/services/online-reporting
