Police are investigating an overnight weapons incident in a south side neighbourhood.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to the area of Ashland Place and Limbrick Street just before 4 a.m. on Friday, May 31 after receiving multiple reports of gunshots.

Members of the Emergency Task Unit assisted in the response.

The Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Units are involved in the ongoing investigation.

At this time, police have not received any reports of injuries.

A visible police presence is expected to remain in place, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area.
