Police located a missing youth with assistance from its K-9 Unit Sunday evening.
The Thunder Bay Police Service initially received information about a missing 12-year-old male just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8.
Officers immediately began searching for the youth, but despite their best efforts were unable to locate him. However, the investigation by members of the Uniform Patrol Branch did provide police with some information about the direction the youth may have been travelling.
K-9 Unit officers Cst. Josh Berube and canine partner Lucek were dispatched to an area in the 500 block of Syndicate Avenue South in the evening hours of Nov. 8. From there the pair headed in a direction the youth was suspected to have travelled.
About 20 minutes into the search the K-9 Unit officers successfully tracked and located the boy on a property in the 800 block of Ridgeway Avenue.
He was safely returned to his family.
