Police are requesting public assistance as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a serious assault that occurred on the city’s south side in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 11.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a residential address in the 700 block of James Street just after 11 a.m. on Thursday after learning an assault took place there earlier that morning.

Police have since identified a male victim, who is now at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further assessment and treatment of his injuries. The extent of those injuries are unknown at this time but are believed to be serious.

This is now classified as a major case and is being investigated by members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit.
