Police arrested a Brampton woman for impaired driving after he was observed speeding on the city’s north side Friday.
A Thunder Bay Police Service officer with the Uniform Patrol Branch was conducting speed enforcement in the area of Water Street near Cumberland Street just before midnight on Friday, Oct. 2. At that time the officer observed a motorist travelling nearly 25 km/h above the posted maximum speed limit.
The officer conducted a traffic stop without incident. During the interaction between the officer and motorist a request was made for a road-side breath test.
After initially struggling, the motorist eventually did provide a proper sample of their breath. This resulted in a fail, which led to the driver’s arrest.
The motorist was transported to the TBPS headquarters for further evaluation. The driver provided a breath technician with samples, which confirmed they were impaired by alcohol.
A 20-year-old Brampton, Ont., woman is charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration.
The accused has been released from custody with a future appearance date.
