A quick response by police officers helped reverse a suspected overdose.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were in the area of May Street and Victoria Avenue on Saturday, May 25, when they were flagged down for assistance.

The officers located an unconscious male who was in medical distress. The officers administered multiple doses of naloxone and the male regained consciousness and resumed normal breathing.

The male was transported to hospital and has made a full recovery.

Police continue to advise of the dangers of narcotics use. Narcotics purchased on the street in our community often contain unknown substances and dosage. Anyone treated for an overdose should still seek medical attention even if they appear to have fully recovered.
