Two police officers were assaulted in a span of about four hours over the weekend.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch responded to a dispute at an address on Yonge Street at about 10:15 p.m. on Friday, August 30.
As an officer was apprehending an individual, the suspect repeatedly kicked at the officer's legs.
A 20-year-old Thunder Bay woman has been charged with Assault x3 and Assaulting a Peace Officer.
Just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, officers responded to reports of a disturbance and assault on Red River Road. One officer was punched in the face while intervening after a group of people had been fighting. The identity of the assailant is unknown.
Neither officer sought medical attention.
Rates of assault against police are significantly higher in Thunder Bay than the provincial average.
