Police charged a 63-year-old Thunder Bay man for a second time in three days for driving while impaired.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the area of Red River Road and Cumberland Street just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 following reports of a suspected impaired driver.
Police learned the male was located unconscious in the driver’s-side of a black sedan. The vehicle was parked on Red River Road, and when the male was awoken by paramedics he refused medical treatment and drove away.
An investigation led officers to identify a suspect, who was located by police at a residential address in the 200 block of Leslie Avenue. When police arrived they observed the male suspect exiting the sedan.
Police conducted a roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST), which determined the driver was possibly impaired by drug.
The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street. There the male was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, who confirmed the accused was impaired by drug.
