Police arrested a Thunder Bay man for assault following a reported dispute between neighbours on the city’s north side Wednesday.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched just before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15 to a hotel in the 200 block of Bay Street following reports of an assault that had just occurred.
Police learned the victim had attended the accused’s room in the Royalton Hotel that evening to speak with him about an ongoing dispute. When the accused answered his door, he grabbed and assaulted the victim inside the apartment.
The victim managed to escape the room and fled. Paramedics later transported him to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment of his injuries.
As a result of their ongoing investigation, officers located the accused nearby outside. He was arrested without further incident and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
Nelson Owen STEVENSON, 44, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Assault, Failure to Comply with a Judicial Release, Breach of Probation.
He appeared in bail court on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Thursday, Dec. 17.
