Police arrested a Thunder Bay man who is accused of attacking another male with a brick after being asked to leave a private residential building on the city’s southside Saturday morning.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the 200-block of May Street South just after 9 a.m. following reports of an assault with a weapon that had just occurred.
While en route, police learned a male suspect had thrown an object – possibly a brick – at a male victim before fleeing toward a nearby homeless encampment in the 100-block of Simpson Street.
Officers arrived on scene, and through their investigation identified at male suspect. The male was located and taken into custody nearby just before 9:10 a.m.
Police learned the accused male and an unknown female were asked to leave a building. The accused responded by attacking the male who had made the request.
The accused was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
While at the police headquarters, the accused attacked three officers.
Walter Brett Kevin BAXTER, 31, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Assault with a Weapon
• Assault x 2
• Assault Peace Officer x 3
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order
He appeared in bail court on Saturday, Aug. 19 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
