Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the area of Balmoral Street and the Harbour Expressway in the morning hours of Friday, June 9, following reports of a suspected impaired driver.
When officers arrived in the area they located the suspected motorist. Officers approached and observed signs of impairment.
The male driver was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operation Over 80mg.
The name of the accused is being withheld at this time as the charges have not been formally sworn before the courts.
The motorist was an off-duty Thunder Bay Police Service officer. He has been placed on administrative duties.
As this matter is to appear before the courts, the Thunder Bay Police Service cannot comment further.
