Police arrested a suspected impaired driver at the scene of a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon.
A Thunder Bay Police Service officer with the Traffic Unit was dispatched to an area of County Boulevard and Wentworth Crescent just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Feb.23 following a reported motor vehicle collision with injuries.
When the officer arrived he observed two vehicles that had been involved in an apparent collision.
Police spoke to one of the motorists involved, who stated the driver of another vehicle had entered their lane. The other motorist was no longer at the scene.
An investigation ensued to locate the motorist, who later arrived at the scene and was positively identified.
At this time police noticed the driver was showing multiple signs of impairment. She was subsequently arrested and transported to the TBPS headquarters for further evaluation.
Further investigation by a Drug Recognition Expert determined the driver was impaired by drug.
A 43-year-old Thunder Bay woman is charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. She was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
