Police arrested four people, including an Ottawa man and Edmonton man, and charged them with drug-trafficking related offences following a Monday morning incident.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 900 block of John Street following reports of a disturbance and unwanted males inside the home just before 3 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7.
When officers arrived they learned at least two of the males were from out of town and suspected to be in the city for the purpose of drug trafficking.
Officers entered the home and located two males who appeared to be in the process of destroying suspected cocaine. They were arrested without incident. One of the two males was also found to be in possession of suspected Oxycodone.
Police located and arrested two other males inside the home. Police also found a quantity of cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
Farhan AWALEH, 26, of Edmonton, is charged with:
• Unlawfully in Dwelling
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Obstruct Peace Officer
Djilani HAMZA, 24, of Ottawa, is charged with:
• Unlawfully in Dwelling
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Obstruct Peace Officer
Noel Perez, 24, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Unlawfully in Dwelling
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Breach of Probation
Scott SHAPWAYKEESIC, 35, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Breach of Probation x 2
All four appeared in bail court on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
