Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and Anishinabek Police Service were preparing to execute a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Athens Drive at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
While officers were en route a silver crossover SUV was observed leaving the residence. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen, was stopped by police.
Through the course of the investigation a passenger in the vehicle was arrested and charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Officers executed the search warrant after 10 p.m. As a result of the search, police located a quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of about $4,350, fentanyl with an estimated street value of $22,000 and a significant amount of cash. Police also located and seized two loaded handguns.
Four other individuals were arrested by police.
Ahmed ABUKAR, 22, of Toronto, Adams Suleman ANKAMAH, 24, of Toronto, Charis Demi BOUGIE, 27, of Thunder Bay, Charlotte Ann BOUGIE, 48, of Thunder Bay, and Osagie ISAAC, 24, of Toronto have been charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking fentanyl and cocaine
• Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
• Careless Storage of a Firearm X2
• Possession of Restricted/Prohibited Firearm with ammunition X2
• Unauthorized Possession of Firearm X2
• Possession of Firearm Knowing Unauthorized X2
• Possession of a Prohibited Device
All accused individuals have been remanded into custody with a future court date.
