Police arrested a local man for illegally possessing a Taser following an investigation into drug trafficking Monday afternoon.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 200 block of Cumming Street just before 3 p.m. on Monday following reports of possible drug-trafficking activity.
When officers arrived they located and spoke to a male suspected to be connected to their investigation.
Police learned the male was in possession of a functioning Taser. The weapon was seized and the accused was arrested without further incident.
Police later discovered the male was in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine.
Kelly Joseph LACARIA, 42, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of Cocaine, Breach of a Firearm Prohibition Order x 4, Breach of Probation x 2.
He appeared in bail court on Tuesday, Aug. 11 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
