The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crimes Unit has made an arrest linked to an investigation involving the possession and making available of child pornography.
Police began an investigation on Wednesday, July 31 after receiving tips that a local user had uploaded photos to social media that were consistent with child pornography.
As the result of their investigation, police were able to identify the local user of two social media accounts that were being used to post child pornography.
Police executed a search warrant on Thursday, Aug. 1 at a residence in the 200 block of Empire Avenue. As a result of that search police seized a device that contained child pornography. Police also discovered images of a youth known to the accused.
Police seized electronic devices following their search of the Empire Avenue home.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Todd Andrew MCNALLY, 48, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography, Importing and Distributing Child Pornography, Printing and Publishing Child Pornography, and Voyeurism.
MCNALLY appeared in court Friday morning and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
