A local resident has been charged with a child pornography offence and failing to comply with previous court orders.
The Thunder Bay Police Service Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation earlier this month after receiving information that a local internet user was suspected of breaching a prohibition order relating to children.
Members of the Cyber Crime Unit, with assistance from members of the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit, executed a search warrant at a local residence on the morning of Thursday, July 25.
Multiple electronic devices were seized from the residence. Officers found material consistent with child pornography.
Scott William GIERTUGA, 57, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Failure to Comply with a Probation Order, and Failure to Comply with a Prohibition Order.
The accused appeared in court and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
