Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a business in the 1100 block of Carrick Street following reports of a break and enter in progress just before 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.
When officers arrived they learned a male suspect had climbed over the fence into the secure gated tow yard of Gary’s Towing and was attempting to steal from impounded vehicles.
Officers were able to locate the suspect, who was attempting to hide underneath a vehicle.
Police ordered the suspect out from under the truck he was hiding under, but the suspect refused.
After a brief struggle officers were able to remove the suspect from underneath the vehicle and complete the arrest.
A 49-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with Break and Enter with Intent and Resist Peace Officer.
He is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Aug. 19.
