Police are at the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision involving multiple pedestrians on the city’s southside. Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the Simpson Street and Northern Avenue area just before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 3 following reports of a motor vehicle collision. Firefighters with Thunder Bay Fire Rescue and paramedics with the Superior North EMS were also dispatched to the scene. A motor vehicle and two pedestrians were involved in the collision. The pedestrians have been transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries. Their injuries are believed to be life threatening. The driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene. A significant police presence remains in the area and motorists can expect extreme traffic disruptions as a result. The public is asked to avoid the area until further notice. Further media updates will be provided as they become available.
