Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating a serious assault that occurred Friday night.
Officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the area of 500 Donald Street East shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 following reports of an assault that had just occurred.
When police arrived they located a female victim, with assistance from a passerby who had contacted 911, near a bus shelter at City Hall.
The 27-year-old female victim had sustained significant injuries, which were believed to have been sustained during an assault.
Paramedics with the Superior North EMS transported the victim to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment of her injuries.
The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
Members of TBPS’s Forensics Unit established a scene in the area. That scene has since been released.
