Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Cumberland Street North following reports that a man had been stabbed in the chest just after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
When officers arrived they located a victim being attended to by employees of a nearby Tim Hortons restaurant.
Police learned the victim was approached by a male who was known to him in the 200 block of Egan Street. An argument followed, at which point the accused male assaulted the victim.
Around the time police were speaking to the victim officers spotted a vehicle, believed to be driven by the accused, heading southbound in the zero-to-100 block of Cumberland Street. Police approached the vehicle, located the accused inside and completed the arrest without incident.
Paramedics transported the victim to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment of his injuries.
A 29-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance.
He is expected to appear in court Thursday, Aug. 1.
