Aggravated Assault

Police arrested a male and female following an assault on the city’s southside Friday evening.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 100 block of Edward Street South at about 11 p.m. on Friday, April 29 following reports of a serious assault that had just occurred.

When police arrived to the scene, they located an adult male with significant injuries which appeared to have been sustained by an assault. The injuries were consistent with a stabbing.

The male victim was treated and assessed at the scene before paramedics with Superior North EMS transported him to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Cetnre. The victim remains at the hospital with serious injuries.

As a result of their investigation, officers at the scene identified and located a male and female suspect.

They were taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street without further incident.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit are now involved in the ongoing investigation.

Kurtis Shawn Ernest SHEWAYBICK, 28, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Aggravated Assault
• Breach of Probation
• Failure to Comply with a Release Order

Terry Lynn TROUTLAKE, 32, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Aggravated Assault

Both appeared in bail court on Saturday, April 30 and were remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
