A 20-year-old Hamilton man was charged with Aggravated Assault following a disturbance at a weekend house party.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a residential address on Highgate Road just after 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 following reports of a major disturbance at an outdoor gathering.
As police were en route to the home, the occupants of two vehicles travelling toward the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre attempted to flag down officers. Police learned two people in these vehicles were victims of an assault that occurred at the Highgate address.
The victims were accompanied to the hospital while additional units continued on to the address of the disturbance.
An investigation revealed that multiple people became involved in an altercation during the outdoor gathering. During this altercation, two victims sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing.
Police at the scene identified and located a male suspect, who was subsequently arrested without further incident.
Issa Becher BECHIR, 20, of Hamilton, Ont., is charged with Aggravated Assault. He appeared in bail court on Saturday, Aug. 22 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
The investigation remains ongoing and includes members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit.
