Police arrested a Thunder Bay man accused of stabbing two people during a physical altercation on the city’s south side Sunday.

A Thunder Bay Police Service officer with the Primary Response branch was in the 100 block area of May Street South just after 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 19 when they observed an altercation in progress.

When the officer approached they observed a physical fight alongside a snowbank, which appeared to involve three males and a female.

The officer intervened and separated the involved individuals.

Police learned that during the fight one of the males had been stabbed. A second male was also injured while attempting to wrestle the knife away from the accused male.

Two adult males were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries.

The exact extent of those injuries is not known, but they are not believed to be life threatening.

The male accused was taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Drew Bishop MITCHELL, 28, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Aggravated Assault x 2
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He appeared in bail court on Monday, March 20 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
