UPDATE: Weapons call arrest

Thunder Bay Police Service officers have made an arrest in connection with a weapons call incident that took place at a home in the 300 block of Brodie Street just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 3, 2019.

Police responded to that address following a report two males entered the home possibly armed with firearms.

Through the course of their investigation, police were able to identify one of the males involved who had entered the home to rob the residents.

Concealed Weapons

A 42 year old Thunder Bay man is in custody and will appear in court today on a weapons charge.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. on July 11, 2018, patrol officers were in the area of the Shelter House dealing with a separate incident when they observed a male walking across the street with an axe in his hand.

He then placed the axe in his waistband and pulled his shirt over to conceal the weapon.

Officers ordered the male to place the axe on the ground. He complied and was arrested without incident.

He has been charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon. 

Weapons Arrest

Officers responded to a weapons call in the Intercity area just before 3:00 p.m. on May 14, 2018.

A 29 year old male call 911 to report that he had a gun pointed at him after an incident with a 24 year old male on the May Street Bridge just south of Isabel Street. The victim reported that he confronted the 24 year old who was asking people for money when the gun was pointed at him. 

The suspect then walked toward the Silvercity Movie Theater.

Weapons Incident Arrest

Officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart located on Dawson Road just after 5:00 p.m. on April 13, 2018 to assist store security who were attempting to arrest a female for a theft.

When officers arrived they located the two security officers struggling with a female who was on the ground outside the store.

Once the female was detained by officers it was reported that when the suspect was confronted about the theft she stated she had a knife and threatened to stab the security officer.

A search of the female revealed a number of knives in her possession.

Investigation Continues into Weapons Call

A 911 call was received at 4:43 p.m. on April 1, 2018 from a female stating that she and her boyfriend were being held by a number of men with weapons in a residence in the 1300 block of Home Avenue.

Patrol officers were quickly on scene and contained the immediate area while trying to gather more information. A full incident command was set up with tactical officers and negotiators to deal with the situation.

Weapons Update

A 21 year old male was arrested in relation to a March 21, 2018 weapons incident that occurred in the 400 block of George Street. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace by video this morning. 

Carlos Christofferson Jr. has been charged with aggravated assault and was remanded into custody.
 

Weapon call - UPDATED

On March 22, 2018 just after 2:00 p.m., the accused in a weapons incident on March 21, 2018 in the 400 block of George Street was arrested by Thunder Bay Police Service Uniform Patrol Officers.

A 21 year old, who cannot be named until he appears before court has been charged with aggravated assault and will be held in custody pending a show-cause bail hearing tomorrow.

Weapons call

Weapons Call

Date Published: 2018-02-08

Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Queen St at 9:20 p.m. last evening after receiving a 911 call reporting of possible gunshot being heard coming from an upstairs apartment in a residence.

Patrol officers arrived within minutes and contained the area. Residents from the main floor apartment were evacuated.

Emergency Task Unit arrived on scene and used a bullhorn to communicate with the occupant of the apartment. At approximately 12:30 a.m. a 24 year old male exited the building was taken into custody without incident.

Weapons Incident

Date Published: 2017-11-22

On November 18, 2017, just before midnight, patrol officers attended a residence in the 1100 block of Brown Street in response to a 911 call from a male who advised that his house was just shot at and he has two holes in his front window, probably as a result of a pellet gun.

The victim advised that he heard two loud bangs against his large front window ran to the front door and observed a light coloured minivan driving past his residence.

Police are releasing a video of the vehicle in this incident.

Firearms and Drugs Seized - Update

As a result of ongoing investigations, the Thunder Bay Police Service conducted two high risk vehicle stops just after 10:00 p.m. on January 1, 2017.

The first vehicle containing two males and a female was stopped on Memorial Ave. A search of the vehicle and occupants revealed that both male occupants had loaded handguns in their possession as well as cash and drugs believed to be cocaine and oxycodone.
