The Thunder Bay Police is currently seeking a motivated individual to fill our temporary position of Business Research Analyst. Specific responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:

  • Collect data, identify, and track costs for new initiatives which support collaborative policing operations, front line officer deployment and new policing innovations, with the goal to increase confidence and community safety.
  • Liaise with local Indigenous organizations best positioned to collaborate on service approaches.
  • Assess trends, track financial and system data to support localized solutions development to support front line officers where they are needed most to prevent or respond to community issues.
  • Support work as the Service begins implementing the “Many Voices One Vision 2030” 3 -year Strategic Plan. This includes actualizing a new hub style police facility with space for community partners to work beside police.
  • Provide support to track costs and report on grant outcomes.
  • Analyze police and partner data on call types, use of police resources, services accessed, associated costs and system/project effectiveness to inform current and future needs to support front line policing.
  • Produce detailed, accurate and comprehensive reports for Community Outreach and other branches with the Thunder Bay Police Service.


The successful candidate must possess a degree or diploma in Business Administration or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in business analysis or a related field. Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.  Proven ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.  Demonstrated analytical and research skills in open source and internal and/or external reports. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office related software to an accomplished level, including  Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat is essential. Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, including the ability to address issues in a professional and courteous manner.  Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently.
